Services

Individual Therapy
Dr. Mishanec provides individual therapy in a compassionate, collaborative environment that supports growth, healing, and meaningful change. Their work is grounded in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), helping clients understand and transform emotional experiences while deepening self-awareness and shifting patterns. They integrate evidence-based approaches—including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills—to tailor treatment to each person. Dr. Mishanec adapts their approach to support neurodivergent clients, offering a flexible, affirming space. Specializing in trauma, they use a holistic, trauma-informed approach that incorporates somatic awareness and Somatic Experiencing to support nervous system regulation. They are also trained in EMDR to help reduce the lasting impact of trauma and support healing. Across their work, Dr. Mishanec aims to create a safe, inclusive space where clients can explore their experiences and build resilience and well-being.

Couples and Family Therapy
Dr. Mishanec provides couples and family therapy grounded in emotion-focused and systemic approaches that support deeper connection, improved communication, and lasting relational change. In their work with couples, Dr. Mishanec utilizes Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT-C), a research-based approach that helps partners better understand emotional patterns, strengthen attachment, and create more secure, responsive relationships. They also incorporate Gottman Method principles, including practical tools for communication, conflict management, and building trust and intimacy. Together, these approaches support couples in breaking negative cycles, strengthening their bond, and fostering greater understanding. In family therapy, Dr. Mishanec draws from family systems approaches to explore relational dynamics and the ways each member’s experiences influence the whole system. This work supports families in improving communication, navigating conflict, and developing healthier, more connected relationships. Their approach is tailored to the unique needs of each couple or family, integrating additional evidence-based perspectives when helpful. Dr. Mishanec also brings a trauma-informed lens to their work, recognizing how past experiences can shape relational patterns. They incorporate elements of somatic awareness, informed by Somatic Experiencing, to support emotional regulation and nervous system balance within relationships.

Assessments
Dr. Mishanec provides comprehensive assessment services to evaluate a wide range of cognitive, developmental, and psychological concerns. They offer diagnostic evaluations for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as assessments for learning disorders and other neurological and neurodegenerative conditions. Their evaluations may include measures of memory, attention, executive functioning, and overall cognitive abilities, along with neurocognitive screening tools. They also provide psychological assessments that examine personality, emotional functioning, and behavior. These services are designed to provide clear, evidence-based insights that support accurate diagnosis, guide treatment planning, and inform individualized recommendations for school, work, and daily life.
